Poetry is Born in the Sea by Reowyn Poetry is Born in the Sea by Reowyn
poetry is born in the sea.
it's also born in my superduper beautiful new sketchbook. it's made out of recycled cardboard and the front cover is made out of the corrugated stuff -- which means it's gorgeous and full of potential. i can't wait until i have time again to actually paint.

I tend to agree, also I think that this sketchbook would be a good video game setting.

These sorts of sketchbooks are my favorite. I love how natural they look and feel, and how they contrast with colored pencil! Recycled and aesthetic. A win-win. Suits you very well, your art being very natural, the details feeling spontaneous and free, the flow always marvelous. :)

That's pretty cool, about your journal. Is it a handmade book? :-) Sorry, I am just curious because bookbinding is something of a hobby of mine.

I also really liked your ocean and the thick dark ink lines,

yeah, it looks like they bound the side with string. I would love to get into bookbinding- I would love to make things like this myself.

Here are two great bookbinding tutorials on DA itself. However I KNOW there are others floating around online in places like Instructables and livejournal, because I've used them as well. It's not really that hard, just a bit time consuming. :-D I'd suggest trying it out with cheap copy paper and something like elmer's glue for the first try unless you want to get really adventurous the first time! I'm still gathering "proper" supplies and will have some good glue for the first time for one of my next books like everyone seems to recommend, but I've been using elmer's and/or mod podge. Some books don't even need glue if they're small enough and a good stitching is used. ^.^

Was this notebook possibly from Barnes & Nobles? They have similar sorts of sketchbooks and such.

they do, and I've also seen the same sort of thing at Borders as well but this one is even more amazing, if that is possible. It was from a little art shop we went to downtown. AND it was on sale :) yesss
